Beetroot - The Ultimate Detoxifier
The word detox, often instills a sense of fear and deprivation in the best of us, but the good news is, in order to restore the balance in our bodies after the silly season we don’t have to concentrate purely on eliminating foods from our diet.
Instead, start focusing on adding foods into your diet that do all the hard work for you. That sounds achievable, right?
Raw beetroot (not the canned junk) is a brilliant liver cleanser, regenerating the cells of the immune system, improving circulation, purifying the blood and alkalising the entire body.
Some of it’s other health benefits include:
● Improved athletic performance: Studies show that consuming beetroot juice improves muscle oxygenation during exercise, improving athletic performance and endurance.
● Cancer fighter: Beets have anti-carcinogenic properties due to betacyanin, the pigment responsible for their rich red colour.
● Good for expectant mummas: Beets are full of folate, which is vital for pregnant women as it reduces the risk of spina bifida in the unborn child.
● Controls cholesterol levels: Beets are rich in antioxidants that may reduce the oxidation of LDL cholesterol in your system. Reduced LDL levels decreas the risk of heart attack and stroke.
● Plus… Beets are also full of bioavailable vitamin C, magnesium, manganese and potassium.
While there is nothing quite as delicious as a roasted beet, in order to absorb the full spectrum of this red hued veg’s health benefits you need to be consuming it raw.
By consuming it in liquid form via a juice or smoothie, our bodies are able to absorb the nutrients more easily.
Throwing raw beetroots in with antioxidant rich raspberries, magnesium rich cacao, potassium rich banana and hydrating coconut water makes this smoothie the ultimate pre or post workout drink.

I wanted to know your recommendations on how to choose and find a therapist for psychological health. Online counselling is very important to me, I see that Australian Counselling advocates affordable, accessible and high quality mental health support for all Australians, but they have so many specialists, can you tell me how to choose? Really liked their accessible platform for everyone.
