Havaianas are Brazilian
born and bred
Since our birth in 1962 Havaianas have been made in Brazil
for over 55 years.
Our design was inspired
by the Japanese Zori sandal
Made of quality Brazilian rubber, the texture of Havaianas
rubber soles are also like rice grains, a nod to the traditional Zori style
which was made from rice straw. This is one of many design details that make
our thongs unique!
What our name means
Havaianas means “Hawaiians” in Portuguese. We were named in
honour of the beautiful country of Hawaii; a popular holiday destination that
is full of glamour and summer vibes.
We only used to come in blue and white until..
A production error produced a batch of Havaianas with green
straps. People love the different colour, so we made more!
Sometimes we glow in
the dark!
Every year we release styles that glow in the dark. But did
you know we made the first ever pair in 2000 to commemorate the new Millennium
and people’s fear of the Millennium bug!
2006 was a big year
Our famous slim style, featuring a thinner and more delicate
strap, was introduced in 2006. Women all around the world immediately fell in
love with it!
We break records
In 2006 Havaianas entered the Guinness Book for the first
time! Thousands of people gathered on beaches all around Australia to float on
thong shaped lilo’s, creating the longest line of its kind in the world. The
funds raised from the challenge were donated to local Surf Life Saving clubs. Go

We make shoes too
Our Soul Collection first launched in 2010, featuring a
range of casual sneakers and espadrilles with our much-loved and signature
comfortable rubber soles.
We turned 55 last
year
In celebration of our 55th anniversary, we launched
a limited-edition Tributo style that pays homage to the first Havaianas ever
created!
We live all over the
world
You can now find Havaianas all over the world and in every
colour imaginable.
