We caught up with Aussie fashion blogger @izisimundic after her recent #EscapeWithHavis to beautiful Moreton Island.

As an avid traveller, I thought I’d seen it all. From seal-pups dancing under a waterfall in New Zealand, to tree houses in the woods - atop herds of wild deer, or the time I got lost in Sorrento and ended up eating the best damn pizza of my (and probably your) life.
So, when I ended up in Moreton Island I fell right back down to earth. Australia was home, and I’d hardly scratched the surface.
As we sailed along the ocean, I couldn’t help but notice the thick Australian sun pour onto the water and disappear into a glisten.
Pods of wild dolphins soaring past, and schools of salmon almost going unnoticed. With a heavy blow, the boat came to a halt; out the window I saw the infamous shipwrecks, knowing well that we had finally arrived.
The Island itself is more vast than I’d imagined, covering almost 200 square kilometres of golden sand. So, while we still had the final bursts of morning light, we began the convey across the island. Moreton Island has no real roads intact, just the odd dirt-track deep in the bush. The hour ride, turned into several when we spotted dolphins, a mere couple of meters from the shore. Careful to keep them wild, we looked but never touched as they danced together, basking in the streaming sun.
By day two, I was well versed in the way this Island worked. From bathing in the ocean at sunrise, to roasting dinner over the crackling camp fire and fulfilling the beautiful notion of dressing-down.
Feeling free and relaxed, we spent our days wandering secluded beaches in our favourite Havaianas and loose linen attire. However, little did I know that I was yet to see the real beauty this island had to offer.
It was a little after midday when we drove out to the dunes, a sight so mind-blowing, you almost wouldn't believe it was real. Think, sand as far as your eye can see, one noble tree and the moon. What more could you ever need? We sat together on top of the highest dune and watched the sun slip into the night sky.
The very next morning we had our last pot-boiled black coffee, breathed in the last of the fresh, salty air and made our way back to the coast of Brisbane. This place is somewhere I will never forget, a place that reminded to dig a little deeper into the magic that is hidden within the Islands of Oz.
